The installation of a single cable or cable system to support a
weak or suspect part or parts of a tree, often used as a means of
providing support between two or more stems where the union displays
evidence of ‘included bark’ (i.e. has not ‘grown
together’ and is structurally weak).
This form of support is
usually only carried out on trees with high amenity value or trees
with other qualities for example trees with historic value or rare
and unusual species.
